That’s So 2020 – Living the Dream

December 6, 2020

The recent spell of warm weather here gave us an idea for this post. Ever since we created our backyard bubble, we hoped to extend our outdoor season long into the fall. +7C (44F) temperatures, low angle fall sun and my little friend, the infrared heater raised the temperature inside the bubble to about +13 C (55 F), on this particular Sunday afternoon. We arrived home from our 4 km Ring Road walk and opted to sit on the back deck to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather.

Patty has mastered a Starbucks iced Frappuccino, so we made that the bevvie of choice. Out there in our bubble, life was good.

Living the Dream

Inside our bubble,

with Frappuccino in hand,

we’re living the dream.

Toasting the season
When nature sends you winter, drink ice.
A bubble in our bubble
Inside the bubble
Outside the bubble

After working for 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I waited my entire career for……retirement. I have been exploring this new career for the past 3+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wanted me to do has been rewarding. While I still miss the social aspect of working with a team of great people, I have managed to keep in touch with many from my former team and I have many friends and family members who now fulfill this part of my life. Now that my Patty has retired, we are able to spend more time in pursuits and with people who are near and dear to us. I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may not become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

    1. Thanks Aiva. It is a bit bedraggled right now, as the snow has melted down and it rained (freezing rain) last night. Our walk today was more of a slide. Enjoying the last warmth before we drop down below zero. Thanks for reading and stay well. Allan

    1. No visiting inside or outdoors any more here. Kenney finally had to agree trusting people was not working and we are going into 4 weeks of severe restrictions. Should have done this 4 weeks ago and some Christmas could have happened. Oh well, we have been living a small life for a long time now. Another 4 weeks is just a blip. Stay well Bernie and thanks for reading. Allan

    1. Thanks Ann. Glad you are able to get outside as well. We went for another walk today and it was a bit of a skate after our Monday morning freezing rain. It can’t rain when it is warm, but it can rain just as it freezes. Good thing I had my spike boots on. We have to get out while we can. The good weather will not last forever. Thanks for reading. Allan
