Autumn 2020 – Part 26 – Morning Routine – Jasper National Park

October 1, 2020

After breakfast, the routine was always the same. I would grab my camera and head down to the lake to see what scene today’s sunshine was painting. The scenery seldom disappointed Pat would join me a bit later and we would take a pause, before heading out on our daily hike.

Morning breaks are not tough to take

as sun rises in deep blue sky.

Reflections are like perfection

contemplate and appreciate.

Gratitude is the attitude.

Patricia Lake is like a mirror.

Morning breeze ruffles the lake surface.

The lake is the place to be.

Even the elk stand transfixed. These elk were at the far end of the lake. I was kinda surprised that I could pick them up, even with my 50x zoom. The first shot is of the majestic bull and the last two shots are of the same cow. elk.

After working for 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I waited my entire career for……retirement. I have been exploring this new career for the past 3+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wanted me to do has been rewarding. While I still miss the social aspect of working with a team of great people, I have managed to keep in touch with many from my former team and I have many friends and family members who now fulfill this part of my life. Now that my Patty has retired, we are able to spend more time in pursuits and with people who are near and dear to us. I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may not become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

  1. Wow, such beautiful reflections. I can only imagine what it must feel like being there in person and taking in the stunning marvels of Mother Nature. I have to say – you could easily sell your photos, Allan, they are truly stunning 😀 Thanks for sharing and have a good day. Aiva

    1. I have some of my photos hanging in my house as well as houses of a few friends and relatives. Still trying to see how I can fit one or two from this trip into my house. Thanks for reading Aiva. Allan
